As principal of Roose Elementary School, it is my pleasure to welcome everyone back for another great year at Roose. We are excited to welcome students and support them as they begin, continue, or near the end of their educational journey with us.
By now I am sure you are aware of the Board of Education’s decision to begin the school year remotely. Monthly, The Board of Education in conjunction with the Superintendent will revisit our current plans and make any adjustments they see fit. I’m asking that you keep an open mind, continue to be flexible, and be positive. Manifesting these dispositions will serve you, your children, and their education well.
The beginning of the year can be an exciting, celebratory time. But we must acknowledge that the current culture and climate in our nation also makes the beginning of the school year a time filled with concern and uncertainty. Cultural friction and the global health crisis have brought undue stress to our families and regardless of remote or in-person learning, we are committed to the safety, growth, and well-being of all our students.
I pledge to you that our teaching staff is dedicated and committed to the academic and emotional growth of your child. We will achieve growth by advancing our commitment to using educational research while practicing sound pedagogical teaching methods. As a result of using research-based practices, we continue to see growth in the majority of our standardized testing scores. As always, we have room to improve and we will.
You are an important part of your children’s remote learning experience. We recognize the challenges you face and want to provide you with meaningful support. Communication with your children’s teacher will be critical as they will be able to support you directly or connect you with someone who can.
To all our students and families, we welcome you.
John D. Grob Principal
